The end of the summer has become over the years the most anticipated moment in the life of the company. Textkernel just organised its fourth “Innovation Week”, an internal event where colleagues from different departments teamed-up during 5 days to work on an innovative project of their choice.
Innovating in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere
Reorganised for the span of a week, the company’s headquarter transformed into a busy hive of team meetings, coding sessions and commercial pitch brainstorming. Working well into the evening, team members collaborated on the development of a working prototype in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
By the end of the week and with projects nearing completion, the entire staff relocated to the sunny Dutch coastal town of Noordwijk, where the judging took place. Each team were given 15 minutes to convince a panel of colleagues of the innovative character and the commercial viability of their project as well as the solidity of their prototype.
Tangible projects with a bright future
Overall winner: “Improve your CV”
“Improve your CV” is a tool that evaluates quality of the user’s resume, looks for common mistakes and offers personalised suggestions on how to improve your resume in order to increase the chance of being shortlisted for an actual interview.
Best prototype: “Aria”
“Aria” is a smart mobile recruiting assistant that displays resumes of any format sent to your email in a phone-friendly way and then streamlines the communication to applicants if you wish to discuss with them further.
Best innovation: “Video resume parsing”
In third place overall, “The Video Parsing” team also won the most votes for innovation, paving the way for the development of parsing of spoken language and suggesting matching jobs.
This edition of the “Innovation Week” was once again a great success. Many of the prototypes presented will surely find their way into Textkernel’s line of products, as was the case with projects such as the TRXML editor, the Working at Texkernel website (coming soon!) and Jobfeed Help, which were developed in previous editions.
