Steven Plehier, who is leading Deloitte’s Oracle HCM community, explains why they decided to implement Textkernel’s Apply-with widget in combination with semantic search and matching technology within Oracle Taleo to strategically build up talent pools that lead to efficient sourcing efforts.

Deloitte’s key drivers for a successful talent acquisition strategy are balanced on three pillars: employer branding, ambassadorships and making everyone a recruiter. Turning every single employee into a recruiter and assuming everyone has around 300 connections resulted in a network of 960k potential candidates, which can only be sourced with the right technology.
A new recruitment solution
Deloitte started looking for a new recruitment solution to increase transparency, offer a seamless user experience with reporting dashboards as well as an applicant tracking system. They decided to choose Oracle Taleo and add a solution for high-quality parsing, search and matching on top of that.
After looking at several suppliers and testing them, Deloitte chose to integrate Textkernel’s technology into Oracle Taleo. Textkernel’s technology could be seamlessly integrated and led to a searchable talent pool within Oracle Taleo.
“We performed a vendor selection exercise for parsing, searching and matching and compared three leading suppliers based on their functional and technical requirements as well as their company profile. Textkernel clearly scored the 1st place with a support centre in Europe, the largest customer base, an existing partnership with leading ATS’s, as well as a roadmap focus on UI & mobile development.”, explains Steven Plehier.
Textkernel’s Apply-with widget for more candidates
Using long application forms on corporate websites in order to get structured and searchable candidate data leads to high drop-off rates. Candidates expect a seamless and mobile application process with as few interruptions as possible. On the other hand, the candidate database can only be used effectively if the data is complete, validated and correct. So how could Deloitte overcome this challenge?
Deloitte makes use of Textkernel’s Apply-with widget, which can be implemented on any website and will lead to a candidate-friendly and mobile application experience. The candidate can easily upload his CV and finish the application with one click. In the background the CV parsing software Extract! still sends complete and structured profiles to Oracle Taleo, regardless of the CV-format.
Semantic search and matching for a better candidate pool
The next step consisted of making Taleo’s database more readily searchable by means of Textkernel’s semantic search and matching technology. With semantically enhanced search capabilities, candidates can now be easily retrieved from Deloitte’s extensive database.
Textkernel’s semantic search engine has been connected to Oracle Taleo and can show all candidates and applicants in the Textkernel user interface. Advanced matching, which links the candidates to the most suitable jobs, and vacancies to the most suitable candidates, ensures less time is wasted on reviewing data and more time is available for the essence of recruiting.
